Why transfer old media to DVD?

PDFPrintE-mail

  • DVD video disc storage allows better resolution, which is far greater than that offered by laser disc media and has almost twice the resolution of standard VHS videotape.
  • VHS cassettes are no longer the predominant format for movies. It is getting harder to find VCR technology with the increase in Blu-Ray and High Definition video. Soon you will not be able to purchase VHS tapes and VCR players.
  • There are currently no plans to continue selling VHS recorders and they will likely soon be discontinued all together.
  • Another advantage is that a DVD disc is not physically touched while it spins in the player, so there is no wear and tear or loss of fidelity over time. Also since DVD is a digital format, it allows you more options for editing and preserving your footage in the future. In contrast, videotapes do touch a playback system and will eventually break down, degrading image quality.
  • Film degrades over time, scratches and dirt cause tracking problems that will occur within a matter of years.
  • DVD’s require minimal storage space.
  • DVD’s are easy to navigate through with titles and chapters
  • DVD’s are quiet and do not need to be rewound after use!

What are your memories worth?

PDFPrintE-mail

Video tapes and reels degrade over time. Digital files do not degrade. Digitizing your old media allows you to have multiple copies of it, stored in different locations. Transferring video to DVD lets you play videos on your current video equipment. We keep a copy of every master we have replicated in our archives so when you need a copy or multiple copies; it’s quick, easy and affordable!

“You care enough to capture your memories
We care enough to preserve them!”
